They also gained a deeper understanding of why we should do our best to keep trash out of landfills and always take steps to keep our Earth clean. đŸŠđŸŒ»Our Kindergarten Nature Protectors have been learning about the five senses, living and nonliving, and how to make an observation. Last week, they visited Lakeshore Park for the first time to apply what they have learned in a real-world setting! This is the first of many trips these Nature Protectors will make as they learn how to notice and solve problems in nature. #BrookwoodSTEM

🩁🚧Our Lions have entered the construction zone in Career Lab! This week, all of our classes have been learning more about employability skills such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork. They have been given the option to work as an independent contractor or as a company to get their "jobs" completed. We have loved exposing our Lions to a variety of career paths and providing them opportunities to experience "a day on the job."

🩁🍿Yesterday, our Pre-K Lions used their five senses to explore popcorn! They had so much fun learning through our senses!

👂 They heard the popcorn POP!
👀 They saw the white, fluffy popcorn!
👃 They smelled the yummy buttery popcorn!
👅 They tasted the salty popcorn!
✋ They felt the soft, fluffy popcorn!

It was such a fun (and tasty!) way for them to learn about their five senses! 🍿💛

🩁📖We are kicking off the year with literacy at Brookwood, so we hope you'll join us for Literacy Night on Thursday, September 24th!

đŸŽȘWe will have grade-level tents set-up, so you can stop by and get more information about how your Lion is learning literacy this year as well as ways you can help at home. We will also have the Kona Ice Truck and free books from Dalton Reads. We hope to see you there!

Brookwood School is hosting a Literacy Night on September 24th! We will have a Title 1 & PTO meeting from 4:45pm - 5:00pm in the cafeteria and from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, we will have grade-level tents set up outside for you to visit and learn more about how your Lion is learning literacy this year! We will also have the Kona Ice Truck and free books from Dalton Reads! We hope to see you there!

đŸŠâ™»ïžOur 3rd grade Nature's Helping Hands partnered with Amy Hartline at Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority to learn about the importance of recycling. Together, they completed a "Trash to Toys" activity to kick-off their upcoming Recycle Runway project!

🩁🩋🐝Last week, our 1st grade Pollinator Protectors met with their partners from UGA and the Whitfield County Extension & 4-H to learn about pollinators, do a pollination activity, and conduct the pollinator census! Together, they observed the courtyard garden in the morning and saw lots of bees! In the afternoon, they observed the big pollinator garden and saw lots of butterflies, moths, and even a big Monarch caterpillar! Our 1st grade Pollinator Protectors are so thankful to participate in the pollinator census each year with these special partners! #BrookwodSTEM
