This incredible honor places them among the top academic performers in the entire nationāless than 1% of high school seniors reach this level. After months of hard work, strong academics, essays, and national test scores, CenCen and Hope are now in the running for prestigious college scholarships.

Dalton Public Schools was excited to host another fantastic breakfast today with Superintendent Steven Craft and a group of exceptional teachers and staff from across the district!
Nominated by their principals, these dedicated individuals had the chance to relax, connect, and be recognized for their hard work. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their contributions and send everyone off into a well-deserved spring break!

Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Edith Nava, a teacher at City Park, recently joined Mrs. Mooreās 4th grade class to support students in sharpening their reading skills. By focusing on monitoring comprehension, students are learning valuable strategies to deepen their understanding of what they read.
Dalton High School student and state wrestling champion Josian Hernandez recently visited Roan School, his former elementary school, to inspire students with his journey. He spoke about his passion for wrestling, the dedication it takes to succeed, and the importance of perseverance in overcoming challenges. His visit encouraged young students to dream big and work hard toward their goals.

Dalton Public Schools Hosts Annual Young Georgia Authors Celebration
Dalton, GA ā Dalton Public Schools held its annual Young Georgia Authors celebration on Tuesday, March 25, at Hammond Creek Middle School. Students from across the district were recognized for their outstanding writing achievements during the event, which honored winners at the school, district, and Northwest Georgia RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) levels.
The Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition encourages students from kindergarten through 12th grade to develop their writing skills and express their creativity. School-level winners were recognized first, followed by district winners, and finally the Northwest Georgia RESA winners. Students who earned RESA honors will advance to the state-level competition, which will take place next month.

Amber Dean Named Dalton High School Teacher of the Year
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce Amber Dean as the Dalton High School Teacher of the Year. A dedicated educator, Dean teaches Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Modern Dance while also serving as an award-winning color guard and winter guard director.
Deanās passion for teaching began in childhood, when she would gather her stuffed animals and āplay school.ā Inspired by her own teachers, she pursued a career in education to provide students with the same encouragement and support that shaped her own academic journey.
āI decided at that moment I would be a teacher where students were comfortable coming to for help or advice. I would encourage them while challenging them to strive for continuous improvement and push past their barriers,ā she shared.

In 6th grade Introduction to Computer Programming, theyāre learning the basics of programming, building problem-solving skills, and exploring how technology shapes the world around them.
Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Aguilarās students at Park Creek School put their math skills to the test by creating āgardensā to practice finding area! By multiplying side lengths, they determined the space of each rectangular plot. As they "planted flowers," they planned how much room each one would needābringing math to life in a fun and creative way!

Dalton High School Literary Team Finishes 2nd in State Competition
Dalton, GA ā The Dalton High School Literary Team achieved an outstanding finish at the recent State Literary Competition, securing second place overall. Several students earned top individual honors in their respective categories.
Ellis Stephens was named State Champion in Dramatic Interpretation, while Lilli Sharp earned the State Champion title in Personal Essay. Jack Kersey and Hayden Poe secured the State Runner-Up position in Duo Interpretation, and Isa Wan was the State Runner-Up in Analytical Essay. Additionally, Andrea Marsh placed third in the state in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking.
The teamās strong performances contributed to their overall second-place finish in the state, marking another successful year for Dalton High Schoolās Literary Team.
