Sabria Oliver Named Park Creek School’s Classified Staff Member of the Year

Dalton Public Schools is proud to recognize Sabria Oliver as Park Creek School's Classified Staff Member for the Year. Oliver, a paraprofessional, has been a vital part of the Park Creek team for five years, going above and beyond to support both students and colleagues.

Oliver’s journey at Park Creek began as a one-on-one paraprofessional for a student with a lifelong illness. Her experience with this student profoundly shaped her approach to education.

“While working with this very special student day in and day out, I was compelled to learn more ways to help her better her daily learning experience,” Oliver shared. “Each day after that, I came to work putting my all into my job—learning as much as I could, asking questions, and assisting as much as possible.”

Her commitment to students extends beyond the classroom. Oliver has stepped up in times of need, taking on additional leadership responsibilities when required. She served as the lead teacher for 13 weeks while her assigned lead teacher completed student teaching and later took on a more significant role when her next lead teacher battled cancer.

“Transitions are not easy,” Oliver said. “These were times when I was required to lead, and when my lead teacher sadly passed away, I had to hold everything together while grieving for my friend and coworker.”

Despite challenges, Oliver remains steadfast in her belief that small gestures make a big impact. “I stand out because I smile,” she said. “It may sound cliché, but I truly believe a smile goes a long way. There could be a child who comes to school and needs that smile or a hug.”

Oliver’s resilience, compassion, and dedication to student success make her a deserving recipient of this recognition. Dalton Public Schools is proud to celebrate her outstanding contributions to the school community.
