Dalton, GA—Dalton High School is gearing up for its "Catamounts Around the World" Homecoming celebration, with events taking place on Friday, September 27. The day will begin with a half-day for all Dalton Public Schools students. Dalton High School and The Dalton Academy will dismiss at 10:45 a.m., Hammond Creek Middle School and Dalton Junior High at 11:30 a.m., and all elementary schools at 12:15 p.m. Regular bus routes will run accordingly.
At 1:00 p.m., participants decorating floats for the Homecoming parade should arrive at the East Parking Lot of Dalton High School to begin float preparations. The parade will kick off at 4:00 p.m., starting from Dalton High School and making its way through Downtown Dalton. Alumni from the classes of 1964, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1994, 1999, 2004, and 2014 will be featured in the parade, with other alumni classes invited to join by contacting Amy Gleaton at Amy.Gleaton@dalton.k12.ga.us. This year, Minnie Marsh will serve as the parade's grand marshal.
In addition to the parade, the Dalton Education Foundation will host its annual "Paint the Town Red" Tailgate fundraiser at the Creative Arts Guild from 4:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., ahead of the evening's football game.
The Homecoming football game against Hiram High School will take place at Harmon Field, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The crowning of the Homecoming Queen will occur during halftime.
Homecoming Week runs from September 23 to 27, with students participating in Spirit Week activities that include themed dress-up days and class competitions. The week concludes with the Homecoming dance on Saturday, September 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
