At The Dalton Academy, we believe parents and families are full partners in student success! As a Title I school, we jointly develop our Parent and Family Engagement Plan every year to outline how we support our students, build strong school-family partnerships, and communicate effectively.

The JROTC program at The Dalton Academy does so much more than teach drill and ceremony. It builds real world leadership, character, teamwork, and civic responsibility that serve our students far beyond high school.
We are especially excited for our cadets this year as they settle into their brand-new, state of the art facilities! Their upgraded space includes modern classrooms, expanded equipment storage, dedicated team spaces, and a top-tier indoor rifle range.

Please help us welcome Michael Meyer to The Dalton Academy! Michael brings more than two decades of teaching experience, beginning his career in education in 2002. He has taught at the collegiate level, owned his own metals business, and is excited to bring his wealth of industry and classroom experience to our new Welding pathway.
Michael and his wife, Grace, recently joined Dalton Public Schools after relocating to be closer to their growing family. Together, they have two daughters, two sons, three grandchildren, and another grandchild on the way! We're excited to have him as part of the Puma family and can't wait to see our Welding program spark to life under his leadership.

Rachel Mast is excited to be part of the Puma family! Originally from Peachtree City, Georgia, Rachel began her teaching career near Savannah before moving to Dalton in 2019. She's a proud new mom who loves spending time with her growing family. When she's not at school, you'll likely find her exploring the outdoors or serving as an assistant director at her favorite place—a summer camp she returns to each year. Rachel is looking forward to connecting with students, families, and staff and making this school year a great one at TDA.
Melissa Ortiz is excited to join the Puma family and bring her passion for teaching to TDA! A Dalton native, Melissa has seven years of teaching experience and holds certifications in middle school math and science, elementary education, gifted education, ESOL, and high school science. After spending the last decade in Florida and North Carolina, she is thrilled to be back home near family and friends. Melissa is a proud mom of three and enjoys attending church, baking, and getting lost in a good book. She looks forward to connecting with students, families, and staff this year.
