To support a more focused, engaged, and distraction-free learning environment ā and to comply with the new Georgia state law ā personal devices (including cell phones and smart watches) will not be permitted during the school day for Dalton Public Schools students in grades Kā8.
Please note that even though this will now be a law, nothing is changing for Dalton Junior High School, as we already have this same policy in our school.
Families can still reach students and staff by calling the front office, emailing the teacher or school, or sending a message through the Dalton Public Schools app. These methods ensure clear, consistent communication while helping keep classrooms centered on learning.

šŗšø Hands-On Learning in 8th Grade Social Studies
Today our students in Ms. Evans class participated in a full voting simulation and stepped into the shoes of REAL voters as part of their introduction to the three branches of government. They created voting licenses, checked in with student-led poll workers, and voted in their assigned countyāexperiencing the entire process from start to finish.
They ended with a thoughtful discussion on the importance of participating in both local and national elections. A fantastic day of learning and civic engagement!

Hoy nuestros estudiantes participaron en una simulaciĆ³n completa de votaciĆ³n y se pusieron en los zapatos de VOTANTES REALES como parte de su introducciĆ³n a las tres ramas del gobierno. Crearon licencias de votaciĆ³n, se registraron con trabajadores electorales dirigidos por estudiantes y votaron en el condado que se les asignĆ³, experimentando todo el proceso de principio a fin.

This is an important message for all German Immersion families in Grades 6, 7, and 8 at Hammond Creek and Dalton Junior High School. The first stage of the middle school German exchange is coming up this March 2026, when our friends from Mainhardt, Germany, will visit us in Dalton. This is your opportunity to host a student and get to know them here in Dalton. Your student can then visit them as a return exchange student in Mainhardt in March, 2027.
For now, we are in need of host families who would be able to house a 7th or 8th Grader from March 15th - March 29th . They will attend classes at Hammond Creek and DJHS.

To ensure that every family receives accurate information, we will reissue updated zoning letters to all rising freshman students next week, December 8ā12. These updated letters will confirm the school your student is zoned to attend for the 2026ā27 school year.
Because updated letters are being reissued, the Out-of-Zone and Out-of-District application window will now open on Friday, December 12. This adjustment ensures families have the correct information before making application decisions.

š¶šDJHS & HCMS will be having our Choir Christmas Concert on Thursday December the 4th at 6:00pm. All students in chorus should be at HCMS Auditorium by 5:00pm. It will be a wonderful concert with many Holiday classics being sung. Come out and start off the month of December with an abundance of Holiday cheer! šāļø
Ms. Rebman and Mrs. Bramblett's ELA classes hosted their first book club last week. Students were able to choose one of five books and will be reading them throughout the semester. During their first book club, students shared projects they had created representing their chosen book and came together to create informational posters discussing the first few chapters of the book they had selected.
