🎶🐾 Another Week of Endless PAWSibilities at the 405! 🐾🎶

Who knew you could make beautiful music with ordinary drinking glasses? 🎵🥛

Our 3rd–5th grade Panthers enjoyed a fascinating Glass Harp Music assembly presented by musician Brien Engel, courtesy of the O.N. Jonas Foundation!

Through music, science, and history, students explored how vibrations, friction, and sound waves work together to create music. They also discovered how everyday objects can become musical instruments and learned about Benjamin Franklin's invention of the glass armonica!

🎶🔬 This unique experience brought STEAM learning to life, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and thinking outside the box!

It's been another exciting week of learning and discovery at City Park, and this assembly was one more incredible PAWSibility for our students to experience something new!

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again.

📚✍️ What a special day in the City Park Media Center!

We were delighted to welcome Rachel Smalley back to the 405 as a follow-up to her recent author visit. Our students had the opportunity to spend a little one-on-one time with Rachel as she personally autographed their copies of Tufted.

Each signed book is now more than a wonderful story about Catherine Evans Whitener and Dalton’s textile heritage—it is also a treasured reminder of the day our Panthers met a local author who encouraged them to remain curious, honor the people who came before them, and believe in their own PAWSibilities.

Thank you, Rachel, for once again sharing your time, warmth, and love of literacy with our students! ❤️

The Hidden Heroes campaign recognizes extraordinary educators and school staff across Georgia who go above and beyond for their students, schools, and communities.

Mrs. Halman, one of our amazing ESOL teachers, is being recognized for her incredible leadership with our Helping Hands Ending Hunger program. Through her dedication, compassion, and countless hours of service, she has made a lasting difference for City Park students, families, and our community!

Now it's time for our Panther family to show her some love! 🐾

🌱🌿 Growing Minds, Growing Plants at the 405! 🐾❤️🖤

Something exciting is sprouting in the City Park Media Center! 🌱 Our new hydroponics growing system is bringing science to life as we grow cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and peppers—right in our library!

This hands-on learning opportunity connects directly to the learning our Panthers have been doing in Unit 2 of our Savvas ELA curriculum! 📚🌎

🌱 1st Grade has been exploring the essential question, “How do living things grow and change?” Through their study of plants and stories like The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, students are learning what plants need to survive and grow.

🍃 2nd Grade has been investigating “What patterns do we see in nature?” To extend this learning, PAWS has also created a Tree Bark Observation Station in our nonfiction section! 🌳🔎 Students can take a closer look at the textures, patterns, and unique characteristics of tree bark, encouraging them to observe, compare, and ask questions about the natural world.

🐛 3rd Grade has been exploring “How do plants and animals live together?” Our hydroponics garden helps students make connections to ecosystems and the important role plants play in supporting life.

💧 What makes hydroponics so special? Plants can grow without soil! Instead, their roots receive water and nutrients through a specially designed growing system.

From watching seeds sprout to investigating the patterns found in tree bark, our Media Center is becoming a place where literacy, science, curiosity, and hands-on discovery come together! 🔎📚🌱

These interactive learning experiences encourage students to observe, ask questions, make predictions, and connect what they're reading and learning in their classrooms to the world around them.

At City Park, learning doesn't just happen in books—sometimes it grows right before our eyes! 🌱📚

🐾 Calling All Veterans & Active-Duty Service Members! ❤️🤍💙

City Park Elementary is making plans for a very special Veterans Day Assembly, and we would be honored to have the veterans and active-duty service members in our City Park families and community join us!

This year, our Panthers will leave the 405 and gather together outdoors for a special community celebration of the men and women who have served—and continue to serve—our country. Our program will include the Pledge of Allegiance, our City Park Glee Club, patriotic music, a whole-school singalong, and a special recognition of our veterans.
Veterans and active-duty service members, please make plans to join us! We want our students to see that those who serve our country aren't just people they read about in books—they are members of their own families, school, and community.

🪑 Guests, please bring a lawn chair for seating.
