Ms. O’Neill’s third grade class had an exciting guest speaker through Skype a Scientist—Dr. Omar Regalado Fernandez, a prominent Mexican paleobiologist, evolutionary biologist, and museum curator whose work focuses on dinosaur paleontology!

Dr. Regalado Fernandez gave students a behind-the-scenes look at his work by showing them real fossils and fossil models from the museum where he works in Germany. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about fossils, and gain a better understanding of what it’s like to be a museum curator.

What a fantastic way to connect our Jaguars with science and scientists around the world!

Blue Ridge Elementary is excited to join schools across the nation in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15!

Our kindergarten students had some very special visitors today! We were excited to welcome firefighters, police officers, and a mail carrier who came to talk with our students about the important jobs they do in our community.

Our students learned how these community helpers keep us safe, help others, and serve our community every day. The fun didn’t stop there—they also got the chance to explore their vehicles and even go inside!

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that nominees can be submitted by anyone in Dalton Public Schools or throughout our community, giving students, families, colleagues, and community members the opportunity to recognize educators who are making a lasting impact.

Ms. O’Neill represents the heart of what it means to be an outstanding educator. Her dedication to her students, her commitment to their success, and the care she shows each day make her such a valued member of our Blue Ridge family. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized for the difference she makes in the lives of our students!

The Tom Jones Educator of the Year will be announced this Friday, August 21, during halftime of the Dalton High School football game.

Family Lunch Visitors

Parents and Families,

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, we will begin allowing visitors to eat lunch with their students.

Students have 30 minutes for lunch. Our cafeteria has recently been renovated, so family lunches will now be held on the stage. To help with seating and scheduling, visitors will be assigned specific days based on their child's grade level.

Family Lunch Visitor Schedule

Monday: Pre-K & 5th Grade
Tuesday: 4th Grade
Wednesday: 3rd Grade
Thursday: 2nd Grade & Kindergarten
Friday: 1st Grade

Please note that siblings in other classes will not be pulled from their classrooms to join family lunches.

When visiting for lunch, all visitors must check in at the front office before going to the cafeteria.

🍦 Ice Cream Sales Begin Wednesday!

We will begin selling ice cream to students Wednesday, August 12th!

Students who would like to purchase ice cream must buy an ice cream ticket in the mornings outside of the media center. No money will be accepted for ice cream during lunch in the cafeteria.

Please see the attached flyer for your child’s assigned ice cream day based on grade level.

Thankful Wednesday, make your teacher a card or write them a note. Food Treat Thursday, bring a delicious treat for your teacher. Friday Surprises, surprise your teacher with whatever you'd like to.
